Book Shelf: Reawakening (Regent Vampire Lords #3) by K.L. Kreig

“I’m not a piece of property that you can just claim, Romaric.”

Having been held hostage for a month by vicious vampires, Sarah is now recovering in the most unlikely of places…the shelter that her sister, Kate and her vampire mate, Devon, opened to help such victims as herself. After months under the watchful eye of her sister, she’s finally put a plan into motion to secure her future when a very imposing, very stoic and utterly drop dead gorgeous vampire takes her world by storm and turns it completely upside down.

“Ah, but that’s where you’re wrong, my beauty. You are mine and I’ve come to do exactly that.”

Romaric Dietrich, West Regent Vampire Lord is one of the oldest vampires alive. He’s cold, calculating and nearly unmatched in power. Vampires recognize their Moiras instantaneously and upon first laying eyes on Sarah Hill, he senses she’s his. His Moira. His Destined mate. The one woman meant to be his and his alone. But how is that possible when he’d loved and lost his first? In his quest to uncover the truth, not only does he discover that Sarah is indeed the other half of his soul, but he’s put himself, and his mate, in the crosshairs of yet another very powerful enemy.

Only bonded together do they have the power to win the battles ahead.
With one look into his icy-blues, Sarah knows that Romaric is not the aloof, uncaring enigma he pretends to be. Underneath his cool, rough exterior lays a passionate, romantic and fiercely loving heart of gold. As they fight the battles to come, Sarah holds the key to not only unlocking his centuries hardened soul, but to the one thing that will save them both from this new nemesis.

But will she make her decision in time? And will they finally get the happiness they both deserve?

Review:

Reawakening is the third release in K.L. Kreig’s Regent Vampire Lords series and is another supple and sizzling romance tale that this time follows Romaric and Sarah, two individuals about to discover their lives have been intertwined far longer than they could ever have expected.

Romaric Dietrich is one of the oldest vampires in existence. He’s seen countless centuries and is as stoic, serious and as reserved as they come. That is until he walks into the home of one of his dearest friends and locks eyes with Sarah, discovering in her his Moira; something that severely throws the conservative vampire who has already loved and lost his Moira centuries before.

Sarah Hill has been to hell and back over the last couple of months. Kidnapped, held hostage and then rescued from her monstrous father, Sarah’s life has changed drastically in recent times. She now lives in a well-protected compound with her sister and her mate, but the moment Sarah sees Rom she knows she’ll never be the same. As the Lords prepare to take their final stance against Xavier, Romaric must come to terms with having a second chance at love and Sarah must accept her newfound mate if they want to survive the coming evil…..

While I still think Belonging is my favourite tale in the series, I did enjoy Reawakening very much. K.L. Kreig explores another touching romance and follows another couple whom I honestly enjoyed seeing discover happiness with each other. I’m still invested in the lives of the characters and would truly enjoy seeing stories about a lot of the characters, not just the main Lords. I think if she wanted, K.L. Kreig could write a very long, very detailed series with many of the minor characters finding their Moira’s along the way.

Reawakening is told predominately through the eyes of Romaric, Lord of the West and Sarah Hill, a strong young woman who had her eyes opened to the dangerous world of vampires when she became a victim of her, at the time, unknown father, who was kidnapping women to breed himself a vampire army. Upon discovering that she is part vampire and her subsequent rescue, Sarah has embraced her new life, siblings and responsibilities. I enjoyed seeing her find love and a mate in Rom. They were sweet and I thought Kreig wrote a nice romance.

Romaric isn’t my favourite of the Lords and I disapproved of some of his actions in this novel, but Kreig redeemed Rom by the growth he undertook and the love he felt for Sarah. I always love seeing characters who have loved and lost love again and it’s the case with Rom in Reawakening. Sarah literally reawakens something in him Rom thought lost long ago and I liked that.

After this novel, I’m really eager for a story featuring Mike and Giselle more than ever. K.L. Kreig includes so many delicious chapters from Mike’s POV that I’m already swept up in their love affair. After seeing so much of Mike, I’m well and truly ready to get to know Giselle more. Then, if possible I would love if Kreig wrote a story featuring Geoffrey and Beth—they have a story that I think needs to be told!

Fast paced, well detailed and highly addictive, Reawakening is another brilliant tale in the Regent Vampire Lords series that left me satisfied, yet ready to read about some of the other characters!

Waiting on Wednesday #130

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine where you can spotlight an upcoming release that you're eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on.....

The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron
Releases on: September 13th 2016

What isn't written, isn't remembered. Even your crimes.

Nadia lives in the city of Canaan, where life is safe and structured, hemmed in by white stone walls and no memory of what came before. But every twelve years the city descends into the bloody chaos of the Forgetting, a day of no remorse, when each person's memories – of parents, children, love, life, and self – are lost. Unless they have been written.

In Canaan, your book is your truth and your identity, and Nadia knows exactly who hasn't written the truth. Because Nadia is the only person in Canaan who has never forgotten.

But when Nadia begins to use her memories to solve the mysteries of Canaan, she discovers truths about herself and Gray, the handsome glassblower, that will change her world forever. As the anarchy of the Forgetting approaches, Nadia and Gray must stop an unseen enemy that threatens both their city and their own existence – before the people can forget the truth. And before Gray can forget her.

Thoughts:
I'm really intrigued my the concept within this book--it doesn't super promising. I've never read anything by Sharon Cameron before, although I know she was popular with her novel Rook. Seriously looking forward to this book; and I think the covers super cute also.

What do you think of The Forgetting? Is it something you want to read?
And what are YOU waiting on this week?

Review:

Signs Point to Yes by Sandy Hall is a light, immensely enjoyable read that features genuinely likeable characters and a simple but entertaining plot!

Signs Point to Yes follows three different characters; Jane Connelly, a seventeen year old girl who finds herself taking on a summer job babysitting her next door neighbours’ little girls in an effort to avoid making collage plans; Teo Garcia, Jane’s neighbour and secret crush who also happens to be the best friend of her arch nemesis and someone struggling with whether to track down his biological father; and Margo Connelly, Jane’s seemingly perfect big sister who is struggling with the decision to come out as bisexual to her parents. All three must make big decisions, and as their lives continue to collide, all three discover how powerful friendship, family and accepting yourself can be…..

I went into Signs Point to Yes with open eyes and an optimistic spirit, and I’m thrilled to say that within the first few chapters, Sandy Hall managed to easily capture my attention. Signs Point to Yes was a really sweet, easy read. It’s the kind of feel-good novel you can’t help but love. Sandy Hall delivers some loveable characters, entertaining dialogue and sweet endearing moments. There’s romance, friendship and humour and plenty of unexpected one-liners that will bring a smile to your face.

As the two most focal characters, I very much adored Jane and Theo. They were genuine, easy to like and felt real. Hall gives them their own voices as well as their own individual demons, but brings them together in an entertaining way. It’s impossible not to love them, as well as the vast array of supporting characters Hall gives life to.

You’ll fall in love with Teo’s adorable little sisters Keegan, Rory and Piper, who as little girls are, are inquisitive and excitable and just downright cute. Teo’s best friend Ravi will bring a smile to your face with his over dramatic antics and Margo will win you over with her serious but supportive nature. There’s plenty of life and personality within this book to keep you smiling and following along with the characters.

Signs Point to Yes really does please with its feel-good aura, sweet romance and endearing characters. This may be the first book I’ve read by Sandy Hall, but I doubt it’ll be the last! Definitely recommend.

__________________________________________

A zombie novel.

For the past two years, Jules has floated through life.

When the virus was released it changed everything about the world. Jules lost her mom and her home, forcing her to live with the father she barely knows. Now, even as society works to rebuild, Jules still feels like she doesn’t quite fit in.

Then she meets Roman.

Even before the zombies, he only had himself to depend on. Brooding and rebellious, Roman isn’t anyone Jules would have pictured herself with before the zombies came. But now she finds herself willing to give up everything to be with him.

The attraction is too strong for either one of them to ignore, but Roman and Jules soon discover that the uncertainty of their new world extends much farther than just the zombies. When disaster strikes, Roman must race against the most terrifying clock imaginable to save Jules, or once again end up alone.

From Alone.....

I’m still grinning when we step outside. The wooden porch sags beneath my feet, feeling a little less than sturdy, but that isn’t what makes my heart almost stop. My smile melts away and my feet stop moving, and within seconds I’m shaking like a leaf.

There are three zombies in the yard. Three of them. I haven’t come this close to one since the first few months of the outbreak, and now there are three.

Roman steps in front of me and shoves the shoebox into my hands as he pulls his knife out, all in one fluid movement. “It’s okay.”

It doesn’t feel okay. It feels the complete opposite of okay.

Roman steps off the porch, and one of the zombies spots him right away. The thing groans and moves toward him, chomping his mouth. Gray skin stretches across his face, and the deep gashes that cut across the decaying flesh ooze with black goo. Thankfully, the other two creatures are facing the other way and haven’t caught wind of us yet.

Roman doesn’t seem afraid in the slightest as he walks toward the dead man. His knife is held firmly in his hand, but he’s steady. Sure of himself as he walks in a big arc around the zombie. He was right. They are slow. But it’s still terrifying, and I’m still shaking, gripping the box of batteries so hard the cardboard bows under the pressure. Just as Roman reaches the back of the first zombie, the other two notice him and head his way. My heart jumps to my throat and I reach out like I’m trying to stop them, but no sound comes out when I move my lips.

I try again, and this time his name comes out like a strangled cry. “Roman!”

He smiles like all of this is nothing, then drives his knife into the back of the first zombie’s skull. The thing drops to the ground, and Roman spins to face the others. He charges the second one, a sad-looking woman whose nightgown is stained and tattered, her gray skin barely clinging to her bones. Roman dodges her arms and loops around her back, then jabs his knife into her skull just like he did with the first one.

Two down, but my heart is still pounding wildly.

The third one is so tall that Roman’s head only goes up to the zombie’s shoulders. Next to him, Roman looks like a child. Even worse than his size is the fact that he seems to be faster than the other two. Less decomposed, even, like he’s just recently died.

Roman circles him, but the zombie spins too. His hands reach out to grab Roman, but Roman ducks out of the way. His face tenses, and his eyes dart over to me. I watch, frozen in terror from my place on the porch as Roman tries to get behind the zombie again. He could stab him in a different location, but with as tall as the decaying man is, it wouldn’t be safe. Only no matter how many times Roman tries to get behind the corpse, it doesn’t work. The thing is too fast and too hungry. Determined.

Book Shelf: The Redhead Revealed (Redhead #2) by Alice Clayton

LONG-DISTANCE LOVE JUST GOT HOTTER!

Life is sweet. Grace Sheridan has just won her dream role in a new off-Broadway play, and the talented hunk flooding her phone with scintillating texts and scandalous photos is Jack Hamilton, the twenty-four-year-old “it” Brit whose Hollywood career is about to climax faster than . . . you know. So what if their steamy relationship is bicoastal and under wraps, or that L.A. fangirls are grabbing Jack’s ass?

Absence does make the heart grow fonder and the libido hotter, but their few weekend visits feel more more like fast food than the five-course dinner they crave. And then—the creator of Grace’s new show is the man who broke her heart back in college, and he seems to have written the play just to make amends with his leading lady.

As rumors spread that Jack and his lovely, leggy ex-girlfriend have gotten back together, Grace starts to wonder about her own feelings. Can lust alone keep our favorite, feisty duo together, or will Grace find herself back in safer, more familiar arms?

Review:

The Redhead Revealed is the second book in Alice Clayton’s Redhead series and continues to follow aspiring actress Grace Sheridan in this sexy and funny sequel that sees Grace and her man face the next hurdle in their unexpected romance.

The Redhead Revealed picks up where the last book left off—Grace has just moved to New York to act in an off-Broadway show, while Jack is preparing for the launch of the movie that will kick off his Hollywood career and missing his redhead. Grace may be thrilled to be pursuing her dreams, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t deeply missing her Brit and wishing they were together. Grace and Jack are finally reaping the rewards of their acting dreams but as the distance between them begins to get harder and the stolen weekends together become less and less satisfying, will Grace’s fears and insecurities about their relationship cause them to find solace in the arms of other people? Or will they finally decide to fight for what they have, be damned what the media and Jack’s fans think?

Having really enjoying the first book in this series I was glad to find The Redhead Revealed to be a worthy sequel. The first chapter of Grace and Jack’s story ended nicely in the first book and The Redhead Revealed marks the next stage of their journey. The Redhead Revealed is fun, sexy and highly entertaining, but is also more angst ridden and emotional, and sees our passionate couple face some big hurdles in their relationship. Alice Clayton wonderfully explores the difficulties an age difference can make, and the impact the media can have on a couple. I can only imagine what Grace and Jack will go through in the next book, but if The Redhead Revealed is anything to go by, Alice Clayton has a lot in store for these two.

It’s fantastic seeing them work through their issues while continuing to be so deeply in love with each other. Grace and Jack continue to connect so beautifully and I love the deep love and dedication Jack has for Grace. He absolutely adores her, and the comfortable way they interact and live with each other is very endearing. They’re so sweet. Their physical relationship is HOT, but they’re also so very sweet. Personally I think Grace is spunky and so much fun, and Jack Hamilton is just smoking. I mean the boy is a green eyed Brit with curls, a great body and who loves his girl. How can you not love that man?

Grace and Jack go through some tough times in this novel and overcome some obstacles. I’m a little bit aware about what the next novel has in store for them, so I’m expecting Alice Clayton to put them through the wringer once more and am hoping for a happy outcome for Grace, Jack and all the fabulous characters who make up their friends and family in this series!

Blog Tour: Princess of Tyrone by Katie Hamstead- Giveaway

I'm happy to have the blog tour for Princess of Tyrone by Katie Hamstead stop by the blog today thanks to YA Bound Book Tours! Having posted my review of Princess of Tyrone, I can honestly say how much I highly enjoyed this novel that is perfect for fans of Marissa Meyer :)
___________________________

Apolline is happy hunting magical creatures on her pirate infested outer-perimeter planet. She is a fantastic shot, and doesn’t flinch at the blood and guts of her kills. Never once did she consider she could be the missing Princess of Tyrone.

All her life, she has heard the story of the Princess, cursed to sleep for eternity, unless her betrothed, the Prince of Oran, gave her true love’s kiss. Although Apolline knows she is betrothed, she thinks her fairy guardians arranged it out of ignorance of human ways. The thought she could be a princess is inconceivable.

Then Allard appears. Handsome, charming—but he’s not hers to have. He’s betrothed, too. Her guardians warn her against her new found friendship, but she and Allard meet in secret anyway. Despite her rough exterior, he sees beyond her gun-slinging bravado, and their love blossoms.

But the deadline for the sleeping curse is approaching. If Apolline falls in love with the wrong person, she could end up sleeping forever.

A quirky, adventurous retelling of Sleeping Beauty, with a less than princess-ly princess!
