As always, Olivia Wildenstein is an author who never fails to impress. Her Lost Clan series will forever remain a favourite of mine and Feather just proves that she has more incredible stories up her sleave. Initially I was under the impression Feather was to be a standalone tale, but after reading the novel I’m excited about it being a part of a series and continuing on with Celestial to feature Feather supporting character Celeste.

Feather introduces readers to Leigh, a fletchling angel who has spent her life helping sinners in an effort to complete her wings and ascend to Elysium, the land of angels. Leigh is a kind and wholesome individual. She genuinely believes everyone can be saved and is deserving of such which is why she decides to take on a sinner long thought unsavable by her fellow angels. Admittedly there is a personal motivation behind Leigh’s decision, but I won’t share too much of this to avoid spoilers.

I thought Leigh was a sweet protagonist to follow. She believed in love and honestly wanted to help those under her care. I really liked Olivia Wildenstein’s take on angels and am intrigued by the hierarchy. I liked that Leigh wanted things to be different and enjoyed seeing her grow as Jarod opened her eyes to passion and the smaller things in life.

Intermingled with aspects of the traditional Romeo and Juliet story, Feather was a solid read from Olivia Wildenstein. Set in the beautiful city of Paris, Feather is woven together with culture and life as Wildenstein creates an electric and steamy love story. I’m entranced with the world and characters and hope to see more of Asher, Celeste and even Eve in future tales!

Feather is definitely worth a read for those looking for an angel tale with a twist. Imbrued with passion and promise, Feather builds to a climatic ending and leaves me eager to see what Olivia Wildenstein has planned in this new series next!

Renegade is the second novel in Chantal Fernando’s Knights of Fury MC series and is another fun and entertaining biker romance.

Chantal Fernando is back with another enjoyable instalment in her Knights of Fury MC series. Proving once again she knows what she is doing with biker novels, Fernando writes an entertaining and effortless tale with romance, humour and action. So far this series has included two delightful tales that are quick reads and easily leave me satisfied---while also craving more.

Renegade unfolds through the eyes of Isabella, the next-door neighbour of the Knights of Fury Motorcycle Club and a kindhearted and easy to follow protagonist. Isabella is a friendly and nice young woman who finds herself drawn into the outlaw world when a night out in Vegas ends with her married to Renny, a member of the Knights of Fury. It was a cliché situation Izzy found herself in—drunkenly married in Vegas—but boy was it still fun to read about.

Renny was a softer male lead than I’ve seen in Chantal Fernando’s novels lately. He was more laid back and easy going. Don’t get me wrong---he was all for his woman, but he didn’t come across as being as alpha as many of the other club members do. He had a sweet relationship with Isabella. It was perfectly balanced with sexy moments, angst and softness.

As I said after I reading Saint, I’m looking forward to seeing some of the other Knights of Fury members get stories, but I’ll now add two more names to the list---Temper’s brother Trade and Isabella’s sister Ariel. I think they were super adorable and Chantal Fernando needs to give them a tale together!

Fast reading but enjoyable from start to finish Renegade was another great MC tale from Chantal Fernando and has me looking forward for when she will release the next instalment in the series---hope it’s soon because I need more!

T. Gephart is an author I always love. Her novels are always light, fun and highly entertaining with solid characters and delectable romance; something that proves true with Viral. Kicking off with an amusing concept, Viral unfolds through the varying perspectives of main characters Vaughan Hale and music exec Gillian Duzan who is Vaughan’s love interest throughout the story. Viral is a deeply enjoyable romance interwoven with moments of hilarity, friendship and music.

Both Vaughan and Gillian were great characters to follow and genuinely likable. After the recent heartbreak and betrayal he has experienced, Vaughan starts to put himself back together within Viral. The opportunity to remake himself and his band is one Vaughan chooses to embrace and I liked seeing him fight to put the past behind him. I really appreciated Vaughan’s character. T. Gephart writes him as a man not ashamed to enjoy being in relationships and who acknowledges he falls for women easily. It was refreshing to see someone who wasn’t naturally a playboy or a man-whore.

As the female lead, Gillian is tough as nails and a strong independent woman. In the music industry, Gillian has had to fight for respect and to be taken seriously in the male dominated world, where women often fall prey to sexualisation. Not to mention her father who has never seen her value or shown her love as he should have. This has been Gillian cultivate a cold, no-nonsense façade that she projects. In Viral, Gillian finds herself facing Vaughan who refuses to take things at face value and who has no hesitation in standing up to her when necessary. Gillian is actually a really nice character and I genuinely liked her.

Given that Vaughan had just come from a relationship that ended through fidelity, readers could be forgiven for thinking that his attraction towards Gillian does come on swiftly, however I feel that T. Gephart builds their relationship from Vaughan’s initial spark of interest and allows him to acknowledge and reach closure with his ex-girlfriend prior to truly engaging in a romance with Gillian. I appreciated that Gephart managed to avoid much of the angst that comes from characters misunderstanding the others thoughts and intentions as Vaughan is well aware of Gillian’s concerns about a relationship between them—he simply isn’t prepared to back off and let go of what they have. And I liked this determination.

Viral is slated to be a standalone novel but I would be lying if I didn’t admit I hold hopes T. Gephart may turn it into a series in the future. Viral wraps up nicely where Vaughan and Gillian’s story is concerned, but I really would love the opportunity to follow Nico, Emily, Austin and Declan in their own tales. I have no doubt they have stories to tell and will keep my fingers crossed this may one day eventuate!

Promise of Darkness is Bec McMaster’s latest release and the first novel in her new Dark Court Rising series, loosely based on the Greek myth of Hades and Persephone and interwoven with fae mythology, romance and danger.

Princess Iskvien is the second daughter of the ruthless Queen of Thorns and has been promised to the cursed Prince of Evernight for three months as a political prisoner. Queen Adaia is determined to destroy her nemesis and hopes Vi’s time at court will allow her the chance to kill the cursed prince. Vi instead hopes that preventing a war between the two opposing courts will protect her people, but one glimpse into Thiago’s darkly mischievous eyes and she knows she’s in trouble. Vi has grown up with tales of the mysterious and supposedly cruel prince, but as she begins to uncover Thiago secrets, she begins to question her mothers’ motives? Is his court truly as evil as she has been led to believe and is the true enemy perhaps closer to home?

I’ve absolutely adored Bec McMaster’s novels in the past but both the series I read were steampunk—London Steampunk and London Steampunk: Blue Bloods Conspiracy to be specific—so it was an exciting experience for me finally branching out and discovering more of her storytelling abilities in Promise of Darkness. And I really loved what I discovered! McMaster is a fantastic storyteller and builder of worlds, evident in this story from the opening pages.

Twisting together a rich and darkly vibrant world of Seelie and Unseelie fae, Promise of Darkness introduces readers to a luscious and dangerous world of deception, political intrigue and fae courts. The novel unfolds through the eyes of Iskvien, a Seelie princess who is a pawn in her mother’s never-ending crusade against her nemesis; a fellow ruler, the Prince of Evernight. In order to uphold a centuries old treaty, Vi as she is known, is to spend three months with this stranger but in typical Bec McMaster fashion, readers will soon realise that not everything is as it seems as McMaster makes it clear there is more going on than a simple exchange of political prisoners.

Vi was a good heroine to follow in Promise of Darkness. She’s determined and focused and not overly swayed by other people. Vi does feature a clear desire to win her mother’s approval however but as the novel progresses she becomes surer and surer of her own thoughts and feelings. Bec McMaster twists the possible Hades and Persephone retelling into a romance with a whole new texture and this sees Vi facing a lot of confusion and uncertainty as Promise of Darkness unfolds. I won’t give too much away, but I thought it was clever some of the developments McMaster made.

With Vi’s romance with Prince of Evernight Thiago the biggest focal point in the novel, it was interesting seeing Thiago fight for Vi’s heart. Thiago is charming and cheeky and there is a reason behind his madness as Thiago sets out to seduce Vi and win her heart. Sizzling kisses and moments of hilarious verbal sparring litter the story as the two of them connect and Vi falls in love. They have chemistry together and given their situation I think Bec McMaster actually allowed Vi to fall for Thiago genuinely over the three months.

Although the novel unfolds through Vi’s perspective only, I’m interested in seeing if this will remain the chase throughout the rest of the series. McMaster fills this lush fae world with a great cast of supporting characters; many of which are from Thiago’s court and I’m curious whether we will see any tales through their eyes. Eris, Thalia and Kyrian are of most interest to me and given how Promise of Darkness concludes, I’m super excited to read more.

Beguiling and perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Holly Black, Promise of Darkness is a thrilling read and what looks like a very promising series and leaves me ready to read the next novel as soon as it comes out!

Mirror Bound is the second novel in The Witchling Academy series by Monica Sanz and is a darkly beguiling sequel that will rival its predecessor with is enigmatic storyline, lush writing and slow burn romance.

Seraphina Dovetail is a seventhborn; the seventh child of a witch and the cause of her mother’s loss of powers and life at the time of Sera’s birth. Scorned, ostracised and ridiculed, Sera has always felt alone. Until she met Nikolai Barrington. The young professor not only took an interest in Sera’s studies but he opened up his home to her when she was expelled from the Aetherium’s Witchling Academy. Sera dreams of becoming an Inspector and one day possibly finding her family, but with her memories locked away in her mind, finding out who she is seems like a faraway dream. Working alongside Barrington offers Sera a reprieve and an outlet for her magic and curiosity but as her affection and attraction to Barrington grows, Sera struggles with the knowledge a future between them is next to impossible. I have to say before anything else that I am without a doubt bewitched by this series. Enchanted. Enthralled. Captivated. And absolutely in love with Sera and Barrington. As with the first novel Seventh Born, Monia Sanz once again sweeps her readers into a darkly magical world of defiance, magic and blossoming romance. Vivid and alluring, the setting is entrancing and protagonist Sera’s voice effortless to follow. Sanz details a rich and passionate gothic-esq atmosphere and keeps her readers bewitched with the mystery and intrigue she adds to the storyline as Sera and Barrington investigate a case of missing seventhborn children.

Mirror Bound once more unfolds through the perspective of protagonist and seventhborn Seraphina. Readers will have discovered Sera’s history in the first novel and be aware of all she must overcome as a seventhborn. Sera’s life has been one of pain, ridicule and cruelty in a society where people believe seventh children to be cursed and monsters. Sera fights to rise above her place and I genuinely adore all she is and all she is battling to become. Sera’s voice is a strong and passionate one. She’s not perfect and has her moments of vulnerability but she’s intelligent and forward thinking and genuine to follow. I feel like she has been continuously growing throughout each novel and I can only imagine the person she is going to be by series end.

After a lifetime knowing only isolation and loneliness, Sera has found a true friend and ally in the form of Nikolai Barrington, a professor and inspector who has taken her on as assistant. Theirs is a relationship full of respect and value, but also attraction, with a undeniable chemistry simmering between them. The slow burn of their romance shines throughout Mirror Bound with Monica Sanz weaving moments of electricity and tenderness to their exchanges. I adore seeing them together and have no shame in admitting their relationship is a highlight of the series for me; I devour any moments where they are together and feel like their romance has been written spectacularly by author Monica Sanz.

Rich and haunting, Mirror Bound was an exciting novel that was beautifully written and paced and features a heroine you can’t help but get behind. Monica Sanz builds this instalment to a shocking final few chapters and leaves me dying to see what is next in store for Sera and Barrington—I can’t wait for the opportunity to join them in their adventures once again!

The Necromancer’s Bride is the fourth thrilling instalment in Kat Ross’s Gaslamp Gothic series and is another deftly told and poised tale of adventure, danger and romance.

Gabriel D’Ange has never been good at forgiveness. As a self-appointed solider of God, Gabriel hunts down the worst of humanity and dispenses his own brutal band of punishment. Now he has vanished after Anne Lawrence stabbed him with his own dagger. The easiest thing to do would be to forget about him, but Anne has never been one to take the easy road and unfortunately her life is so very lonely without Gabriel. Determined to heal the rift between them, Anne sets sail for Brussels where Gabriel was last seen, hoping to convince the temperamental man of her affections. Only Gabriel has his own plans in motion and Anne soon finds herself caught up in his scheme to bring down a formable enemy. Gabriel may be willing to forgive Anne but not before he completes his latest mission; Anne just hopes he doesn’t get himself killed first….

Kat Ross is one of those authors who I see has a new novel coming out and know I just have to read it. I absolutely adore the stories she creates and she never fails to capture my complete and utter attention, time and time again. The Necromancer’s Bride continues the story of Anne Lawrence and Gabriel D’Ange who we saw fall in love in the previous novel, A Bad Breed, and picks up where its predecessor left off with Anne having “betrayed” her lover and now determined to win him back.

As with all Kat Ross novels, The Necromancer’s Bride was beautifully written. Luscious and vivid, The Necromancers Bride tells a darkly gothic story that weaves a world of magic, necromancers and danger together. Readers will have a better understanding of the world having read Ross’s Fourth Element and Fourth Talisman novels as they really are the beginning of the daeva world, however it’s also possible to quite easier pick up the Gaslamp Gothic series on its own, although the history of the characters do intersect with the three series.

Aside from the beautiful writing and storytelling, Kat Ross fills her novels with layered and tangible characters. They’re all endlessly complex with personality and shaded in grey. Nothing is black and white where the characters are concerned. Anne and Gabriel are the primary protagonists of The Necromancer’s Bride—namely Anne, but Balthazar is also a large focal point in this novel too. Readers of the Fourth Element and Fourth Talisman series will know Balthazar somewhat as a villain, but with every time Kat Ross writes from his perspective, I find myself coming to adore him more and more. Like Culach before him, I foresee that he is going to become one of my favourite characters. I’m just not sure now if I want Vivienne to be paired with him or Alec…..

Darkly dangerous but fast and addictive reading, The Necromancer’s Bride was another fantastic read from Kat Ross. I can’t wait for the next novel to be released so I can once again be lost within the pages of this delectable Victorian world.

Rogue is the second novel in the Hive series and brings the duology to a close as A.J. Betts brings to life new elements of this unique Australian dystopian.

There’s no going back for Hayley now that she has left the safe confines of the only home she’s ever known. Outside is like nothing she could ever have imagined and since going rogue she finds herself discovering new wonders every day. Yet outside is far from perfect, and for every miracle Hayley finds comes a disappointment as well. Is this outside world any better than where she came from? Or did Hayley make a mistake in leaving? As Rogue brings Hayley’s story to a close, I find myself satisfied by the way A.J. Betts has concluded this duology. Picking up where Hive left off, Rogue sees protagonist Hayley discovering a whole new world and as the reader, Rogue is also an eye opener as we finally begin to discover more about the place Hayley comes from and the world that exists outside it.

I personally think Bett’s wrote the history of her fictional world very well. It was exciting discovering the series was set in Australia (gotta love an Australian setting!) and I appreciated seeing how Betts wove today’s current events and pop-culture into this dystopian world set in the future. The backstory was believable as I could imagine how our world could become the place Hayley was now discovering.

Rogue sees Hayley grow in a lot of ways and I liked her strength as she fights to find her place in the world. The naiveté she possesses dissipates throughout the novel but she still retains her wonder and hope to find a home. Her voice is young but clear and she comes across as determined but sweet. Hayley makes new friends and even finds herself a new kind of family as she explores the outside world.

The Hive duology has been a unique and easy to ready dystopian series. A.J. Betts has created a world not too unlike our own and gives it a twist with the vault. I think the beauty of this is that neither world is perfect; both where Hayley originally comes from and the world she discovers once outside. Hayley is hoping to find a place to call home, but throughout Rogue it becomes clear that perhaps the place she came from may have been a kinder place to live. I quite liked the idea that not everything is greener on the other side.

Featuring a satisfying and hopeful ending, Rogue brings to a close a fun and solid duology that will appeal to those who love dystopian but are perhaps looking for something a little bit different.

I’ve always loved Kat Ross’s novels and A Bad Breed is definitely no exception. Having read both her Fourth Element and Fourth Talisman series’, I was somewhat perplexed to see that A Bad Breed was advertised as being a retelling of Beauty and the Beast given the Gaslamp Gothic’s ties to Ross’s ancient Persian tales. And yet I should have known Kat Ross would do the impossible and weave threads of the classic Beauty and the Beast tale into her Victorian era world of necromancers, daeva’s and magic effortlessly.

A Bad Breed unfolds in the third person and follows a number of characters including Vivienne, Alec, Anne and Balthazar. I’m really enjoying following Vivienne and Alec in this series having known them since the beginning when they still went by the names of Tijah and Achaemenes. It feels like being reunited with old friends and I’m finding it highly entertaining seeing how they’ve changed and evolved over their centuries together. They’re very much different individuals than when I knew them in the Fourth Element novels and are more products of their current Victorian times, but at their base and in their essence they’re still the Tijah and Achaemenes I’ve always loved.

A Bad Breed sees a Beauty and the Beast element interwoven into the series in the form of Anne and Gabriel who are prisoner and captor respectively in an old dilapidated castle. Anne’s story of imprisonment takes place over a manner of months and Ross stays true to much of the classic timeline but also adds her own flavour to the story. I liked both Anne and Gabriel; daeva and necromancer together is the kind of forbidden romance that I enjoy seeing. Anne is very capable and worldly while Gabriel tormented and like many Ross heroes layered and complex. Gabriel is portrayed as somewhat of a villain but he has human emotions behind his tortured and tormented role.

This novel is more visually explicit than other Kat Ross novels I have read. Though Nazafareen and Darius were intimate during their relationship, Ross didn’t their sexual exploits with the same depth and description she does with the few shown in A Bad Breed. Younger readers may want to be aware of the sex scenes that are adult in nature, although they definitely serve a purpose and reason within the novel.

Fast paced, well written and very enjoyable reading, A Bad Breed is a luscious and vivid tale that ends too soon for my liking. I love Kat Ross’s storytelling and her characters who are multilayered and intricate personalities and who often blur the line between good and evil. A great read, A Bad Breed can definitely be read as a stand alone but leaves me very keen for more!

Review: 

Inferno is the fifth and final instalment in the Fourth Talisman series by Kat Ross and brings the saga to a fiery and eventful close with twists and turns and an action packed ending.

Nazafareen has recently discovered there are worse things than death and as dark forces approach the land of Samarqand, Nazafareen will have to navigate the twisted world of the Dominion in order to stop the being pulling the threads of the Vatras. Yet stopping Farrumohr is only the beginning and as different factions of daevas band together to make a stand against their fire wielding counterparts, the war between these opposing forces will either be won or lost together. Nazafareen, Darius and all their allies will need to fight as one to stop the Vatras King before he burns fire down on all they hold dear….

Reading Inferno is a bittersweet experience. It was an exciting story, as all Kat Ross novels are, but after eight books (The Fourth Element and The Fourth Talisman series) I was very sad to read the last of Nazafareen and Darius’s tale. Following them on their journeys has always been a pleasant and fascinating experience. Seeing foes become friends and different characters step and rise to prominence never fails to entertain.

Kat Ross continues to weave together an electric fantasy world that focuses on danger and excitement. Heroine Nazafareen continues to be a force to be reckoned with even in death while Darius, Culach and other characters continue their fight against the vatras in Inferno. I honestly have come to adore so many different individuals we have met throughout this series. Nazafareen and Darius are still largely our main characters but I’ve loved seeing Culach, Mina, Galen, Katrin, Meb, Nicodemous and so many others throughout the series.

Fast packed and very eventful, Inferno is told in the third person allowing for a detailed account of the circumstances our beloved characters find themselves in. There’s a lot going on within Inferno as Nazafareen and her allies fight to save the world from being destroyed by a vengeful and vicious Vatras leader.

Building to an epic battle where lives are guaranteed to be lost, Inferno does not disappoint. Featuring a final few chapters that were hopeful and uplifting as we saw the start of nothing but good things for many of the characters, Kat Ross ends her series wonderfully. I’ll definitely read whatever she releases next and urge readers to check out this now completed fantasy series—you won’t be disappointed.

Now while I’m going to do my very best to avoid giving away spoilers as much as possible, I do have to say that Sing It, Sam absolutely broke my heart. Beginning and developing with all the elements of contemporary romance that I enjoy, Sing It, Sam eventually built to a heartbreaking and unexpected ending. Emotional and harrowing, the final few chapters in Sing It, Sam gripped my heart and squeezed it for all the emotions it held, making me feel every painful and agonising emotion.

Set in a small Australian town, I really enjoyed that Jennifer Ryder explored and highlighted real issues in Sing It, Sam. She created likable characters in both main characters Jane and Sam as well as the nursing home residents who are unique and vivacious personalities. I appreciated her inclusion of a neurological disorder that isn't as well known as some--this made me go away and think about it's implications and ramifications.

Well written with moments of hilarity, friendship and beautiful romance, Sing It, Sam is an emotional ride that will leave you heartbroken but hopeful that the characters will one day find happiness they deserve within their lives.

Kitty was not only beautiful but also incredibly intelligent—except when it came to relationships. It seemed if a guy was a loser, corrupt, deadbeat or unavailable, she was completely and utterly attracted to him. She definitely had a “type,” and all of them had been one bad decision after another.

Dallas had trouble of his own. Finding women wasn’t a problem—he could charm the pants off almost anyone—but most of those “pantless” women ended up being a few bananas short of a fruit basket. Not always the best candidates for his sex-without-strings philosophy. He was one date away from ending up a 60 Minutes special.

While both of them were at the top of their game professionally—she a high-powered executive assistant, and he one of the best tattooists in the city—their personal lives had become a dumpster fire.

No one in their right mind would have suggested they join forces to help each other wade through the crazy. Surely that was a recipe for disaster? But without reason, logic or even sanity on their side, they decided to do it anyway.

It was a hot mess primed for a head-on collision.

T. Gephart is back with the second novel in her Collision series, Car Crash, another wildly entertaining and enjoyable romance full of humour, passion and tension.

Kitty Donovan is used to people underestimating her. Even though she has built herself a successful position as an assistant to a leading CEO, she’s still not seen for her intelligence and ambition, just her glorious body. A body that has led Kitty into a lot of questionable situations with men. Tattoo artist Dallas is happily living the single life. He has a string of gorgeous women he gets to take to his bed and as long as everyone knows the score, everyone should leave happy, right? Wrong! All his no-strings-attached hook-ups always end the same way; a mess, and after talking to a new work colleague, Dallas has a plan to turn things around. He and Kitty are going to conduct an experiment to see if spending time with someone outside of the bedroom can help heighten what happens within. Yet as Kitty and Dallas find themselves becoming closer than ever will the experiment become something more or are they on a collision for a complete disaster?

Having enjoyed Train Wreck, I was super excited to read it’s companion novel Car Crash, which is as good, if not better than its predecessor! In fact, I think I loved Car Crash even more than the first book! Easily read as a standalone novel or alongside Train Wreck if you want to appreciate the other characters a little bit more, Car Crash follows Kitty and Dallas and unfolds through their dual, back and forth perspective.

Both Kitty and Dallas are highly likable characters and have fantastic chemistry. Theirs is a slow burn romance with plenty of sexual tension and eventual sizzling sex scenes that heat up the pages. I loved that they built their relationship on a friendship even though they had been intimate in the past. Seeing them interact and hang out was sweet and I enjoyed seeing them fall for one another so effortlessly.

T. Gephart brings love to life with this rom-com and I definitely believe Car Crash is worth a read. I was thrilled to see Josh and Eve again from time to time throughout the book and am already intrigued by the new Ink Addiction employee Mason. Here’s hoping there will be a third book featuring him as there’s just so much I want to know more!

You've Got Male is the second novel in Lila Monroe's Chick Flick Club and is anthor funny, romantic and highly enjoyable rom-com perfect for those who like their romance light, entertaining and endlessly sweet. 

Zoey Rafferty has big plans for her food truck, The Little Red Wagon. Classicly trained, Zoey hopes to one day become the breakfast queen of San Francisco with her delicious twists on everyones favourite breakfast treats. And everything is going to plan until a new food truck arrives on the scene and begins to steal all her customers. I have to say I really did enjoy You've Got Male. I felt it was a fantastic follow up to the first novel How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days and once more captured me with its effortless writing and entertaining storyline. You've Got Male was a very easy story to get lost in; it was light, funny and sweetly romantic. Lila Monroe wrote the perfect balance of comedy, sexual tension and chemistry without going too overboard on the sex scenes or physicality of the main characters relationship. 

You've Got Male was told through the dual perspective of both Zoey and Cam with hilarious results as the two characters stumbled through their endearing and adorable romance. Zoey was a solid rom-com female lead while Cam was charming and smart. I thought they were both easy to follow and easy to read about.

The two of them were highly entertaining to witness throughout the story with their banter and chemistry sizzling up the pages as they fought, and ultimately gave in, to the connection between them. Even though they were technically rivals, the food connection between them was a sweet touch and I enjoyed seeing two people who had something in common connect.

Perfect for fans of Penny Reid, You've Got Male was a quick but effective story and leaves me ready to round out the series with Eve's story Frisky Business as soon as it comes out.

Undefined is Jessica Ruddick’s latest release and is the first novel in her new Elemental Saga, kicking off what looks to be a promising new series perfect for fans of Vampire Academy and those who enjoy their novels full of magic, adventure and hints of romance.

Teenager Sophie is an Elemental, able to bend nature to her will. She loves being able to control the elements of water, fire, earth and air, but lately her powers are becoming dangerously high. Sophie also wants a normal life, but when you’re a part of a secret race of individuals, it makes dating hard. It also doesn’t help that her next door neighbour and brooding guardian Aiden trails her every move. When a series of weather occurrences point to a rogue elemental targeting innocents, Sophie and her family are put on alert. Then Sophie finds herself in unexpected danger and she soon realises that there are secrets surrounding her world she never knew about and she’ll have to manage to harness her abilities if she wants to survive….

Having previously read and enjoyed Jessica Ruddick’s novel Legacy, I was very excited to read her latest release and thrilled to discover it was another enjoyable story. Introducing readers to a world of individuals able to harness the elements, Ruddick sets up the beginning of her new series really well with likable characters, an easy to follow storyline and enough moments of danger and romance to satisfy readers.

Main character Sophie was fairly easy to follow. She was a normal teenage girl who is facing your typical teen drama and angsts; dating, high school, peer pressure, jealousy and bullying as well as facing the difficulties that come with being an elemental. Sophie has a lot of potential as a character that I think will come with age and experience. I’m keen to see where Ruddick plans to take her as an individual.

A love interest in Undefined comes in the form of Aiden, who Sophie has known for many years and has only just begun to feel more than friendship for. Aiden is your typical male lead who is strong, capable and swoon-worthy. He’s somewhat of a brooding bad boy and pseudo-cousin figure for Sophie but the tension between them is an underlining current to the story and sweet. I’m hoping for a lot more romantic and chemistry filled moments between them in the future.

Jessica Ruddick has set the beginnings to what looks like an intriguing storyline. We’ve only been introduced to the tip of the iceberg where the elemental world is concerned and I’m hopeful we’ll discover a lot more as the series progresses. Ending with a cliffhanger, Undefined leaves me ready and raring for more.

Nemesis is the fourth instalment in Kat Ross’s Fourth Talisman series and is another deeply enjoyable novel full of rich imagery, dangerous situations and character interactions that will keep you hooked until the final page.

Nazafareen has once more found herself in the centre of a massive fight as she and her allies prepare to take on the fire wielding Vatras. As the Oracle of Delphi marches on the Danai, Nazafareen heads to Val Moraine to make amends with Culach and continue the search for the missing heirs. As a chain of events see Nazafareen and her companions head into the dangerous wasteland known as the Kiln, Nazafareen, Darius and those who dare travel with her will need all their wits, courage and abilities to face the enemy waiting there. War is on the horizon but with so many factors still up in the air, will the Vatras win or will Nazafareen managed to triumph once again?

At this point in time I would read pretty much anything Kat Ross writes. I’ve adored her Fourth Element series and the Dominion novels she’s released so far. And I’m absolutely enjoying this Fourth Talisman series, with Nemesis easily another great read. Nemesis really was just a downright good story. Ross picks up the novel where the previous instalment left off and once again draws readers into a mythical desert world with ancient characteristics and elements.

Blending elements of adventure and romance Nemesis unfolds primarily through the eyes of Nazafareen but also features chapters featuring Darius, Culach and Javid amongst others, allowing readers a diverse understanding of what is happening throughout the novel. Nazafareen still continues to be a fabulous heroine to follow and I continue to love Culach who has become an unexpected favourite character of mine during this series.

There is a lot going on within Nemesis with Nazafareen facing unexpected dangers and a growing determination to stop the Vatras as different dangers arise across the empire. Nicodemus proves to be an intriguing contradiction whose motives often remain unclear but who proves to be more than he seems. I have to really commend Kat Ross for managing to create characters you first hate and then come to love. First Culrach and now Katrin and Nicodemus.

With losses appearing in the story, triumph is far from guaranteed. Nemesis features some fantastic developments in its final few chapters with plenty of surprises. Nemesis races to an absolutely sensational ending that is heartbreaking and heart stopping and just downright incredible. I would never have expected Nemesis’s conclusion and Kat Ross has me dying to get my hands on the next novel as soon as I can!
