Book Shelf: Dirty (Dive Bar #1) by Kylie Scott

Love - on the rocks...

The last thing Vaughn Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a broken-hearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that come with her.

Lydia Green doesn't know whether to scream or cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it's with his best man is another thing all together.

Just when this runaway bride has nowhere left to turn, a handsome stranger offers her a broad, muscular shoulder to cry on. Vaughn is the exact opposite of the picture perfect, respected businessmen she's normally drawn to. This former musician-turned-bartender is rough around the edges and is facing his own crossroads. But Lydia's already tried Mr Right and discovered he's all wrong-maybe it's time to give Mr Right Now a chance.

After all, what's wrong with getting dirty?

Review:

Dirty is the first novel in the highly anticipated spin off to Kylie Scott's bestselling Stage Dive series and is a sexy, funny and highly enjoyable NA novel that is sure to please fans as they get down and dirty with a brand new bunch of characters!

Kicking off the Dive Bar series, Dirty introduces readers to Lydia Green whose life is thrown into turmoil when she discovers footage of her fiancĂ© having an affair with his best man.....on her wedding day! Ditching the wedding and pulling a runaway bride, Lydia sneaks into a strangers home to lick her wounds in private, only for the sexy, tattooed homeowner to find her hiding in his bathtub; wedding gown and all. Vaughn Hewson's band has just broken up, and he's struggling to reconcile his hopes and dreams with the here and now. Vaughn is nothing like the kind of man she normally goes for, but lost and alone, Lydia begins to realize her new friend may be able to bring her happiness she has never before known.....

Having been sad to see the Stage Dive series come to an end, I'm thrilled to see Kylie Scott back with another promising series. Fans of the Stage Dive series will remember Dirty's male lead Vaughn from Deep, and Kylie Scott doesn't disappoint those like myself who have been hanging out for this novel since they first heard about it!

Romantic, sassy and fun, Dirty introduces readers to a new group of brilliant characters and a new hub to fall in love with, the Dive Bar. Showcasing some extremely interesting family and workplace dynamics, Kylie Scott introduces readers to a great bunch of people I'm very excited to read about. I have absolutely no doubt that Joe, Nell, Eric, Pat and even Andre have brilliant stories to tell and I can't wait to read them in the future.

In this first novel, female lead Lydia is someone I very much liked. Easy to follow, Lydia is funny, down to earth and likable. She's a typical everyday woman. She has some fantastic inner monologue throughout the story and some serious fire. She made me smile and I thought she and Vaughn were an adorable couple.

Vaughn is a sexy as hell, red-headed rocker who won my heart with his down to earth nature and sense of humor. He and Lydia connect from the moment they meet and though they fall quickly, Kylie Scott gives them a great foundation in friendship and understanding. With a few sizzling sex scenes thrown in, Lydia and Vaughn were really sweet and fun to witness. They made me smile very easily and I thought they were a great couple.

A quick and effortless read, Dirty is a great kick start to the Dive Bar series and leaves me eager to join the gang again and once more get lost in one of Kylie Scott's always satisfying tales!
