Monday Madness- October 2014

It's that time again! Each month I give away a copy of the book I was most "mad" about with my Monday Madness Giveaway and this month the book that blew me away the most was Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover! Definitely one of my favorite books this year!

"In a time where there are so many books out there, it truly is an experience to read a book like Maybe Someday. I thought the previous novels I had read by Colleen Hoover were emotional, but neither compares to Maybe Someday. Personally, I found Maybe Someday to be one of the most emotionally taxing novels I have read in a long time where the feelings experienced by both main characters affected me so."

At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She's in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her and she's forced to decide what her next move should be.

Soon, Sydney finds herself captivated by her mysterious and attractive neighbor, Ridge. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there's something about Sydney that Ridge can't ignore, either. They soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one.

A passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance, Maybe Someday will immerse readers in Sydney's tumultuous world from the very first page.

Monday Madness-September 2014

Alright, it's time for my Monday Madness giveaway for September and like my previous Monday Madness I'll be giving away TWO books to make up for missing a month---The Winners Curse by Marie Rutkoski & Waterfell by Amalie Howard!

Here's a little about what I thought of these books.....

"A rich and compelling read, The Winners Curse is a beguiling tale of politics, secrets and honour woven together with a complex love story that spans different social standings and sees a strong young woman face losing everything she loves for the chance to save her people."

"Waterfell is a well written and riveting on land adventure that mixes romance and friendship with otherworldly sea creatures in this exciting tale that sees typical teen drama mingle with undersea political agendas and surprising dangers!"

Winning what you want may cost you everything you love.

As a general’s daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions. One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction.

Arin’s eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him—with unexpected consequences. It’s not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin. But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.

Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

Monday Madness- July 2014 **CLOSED**

Welcome to Monday Madness for July! I may have been a bit of an airhead and managed to miss Monday Madness for June so to make it up to you all I'll be giving away TWO books--- a copy of Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker and Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott!

Here's what I thought about them.....

"Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker is a beautifully written and gorgeous story of life, love and loss. With magnetic characters and a strong storyline, this is a stunning debut about the power of forgiveness and the healing possibilities that moving on can bring."

"Fire & Flood is an absolutely sensational story by Victoria Scott that will entrance you from the get go and sweep you away with it's face-paced storyline, riveting stakes and dashing originality. Danger, excitement and even romance blend in this gripping story that will leave you begging for more!"

Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.

Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.

But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgiveable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness.

Monday Madness Giveaway- May 2014 *CLOSED*

Welcome to the May edition of Monday Madness! This month the book I was most mad about was Disruption by Jessica Shirvington! I simply adored the book BUT because it's not available at The Book Depository I'm giving away a copy of any of her other books instead. Winners choice :D

Here's a little bit about what I had to say about Disruption.......

"Excellent world building and pace make Disruption an addictive and beguiling read. You'll find Disruption hard to put down and Jessica Shirvington skillfully builds on every moment in this layered and surprising story to leave you breathlessly wanting more. Starring a kick-ass heroine and an electrifying storyline, Disruption shapes up to be one of the must-reads of the year and is a brilliant start to what promises to be a sensational new series from Shirvington! What if it could be used against you and the ones you love?

Eight years ago, Mercer Corporation’s M-Bands became mandatory. An evolution of the smartphone, the bracelets promised an easier life. Instead, they have come to control it.

Two years ago, Maggie Stevens watched helplessly as one of the people she loves most was taken from her, shattering her world as she knew it.

Now, Maggie is ready. And Quentin Mercer – heir to the M-Corp empire – has become key to Maggie’s plan. But as the pieces of her dangerous design fall into place, could Quentin’s involvement destroy everything she’s fought for?

In a world full of broken promises, the ones Maggie must keep could be the most heartbreaking.

Monday Madness Giveaway- April 2014 **Closed**

It's that time again! Monday Madness for April sees me feature one of the best NA novels I've read for a very long time--Hopeless by Colleen Hoover! Here's a little of what I thought about the book.....

"Colleen Hoover addresses some really strong issues in this book; exploring sexual abuse at the hands of a parent and the effect it can have on a person in such a painful and beautiful way. Featuring two great characters, a sensual romance and a powerful storyline, Hopeless has helped Hoover secure a fan in me and guarantees I'll be seeking out more of her stories!"

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

Monday Madness Giveaway- March 2014 *CLOSED

Welcome to March's Monday Madness Giveaway! This month the book that had me the most "mad" and actually broke my heart into little tiny pieces was The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I'll never know why I waited so long to read this incredible book, but I'll glad I finally did. Here's a little of what I thought.....

"John Green's powerful exploration of life and love in the midst of death is something so powerful in The Fault In Our Stars . There's no doubt in my mind that the smart and bittersweet romance explored in The Fault In Our Stars will stay with you, long after the inevitable happens. Get ready for an emotional rollarcoaster ride with The Fault In Our Stars---one that's sure to have you coming back for more!"

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning author John Green's most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Monday Madness Giveaway- February 2014 *CLOSED*

Welcome to the February edition of Monday Madness! This month the book I was most "mad" about was Secret by Brigid Kemmerer. It's my favorite book in the series to date, so to celebrate I'm giving away a paperback copy OR is you haven't read this series--winners choice! That's right. If you're not up to Secret, you can pick any of the other Elemental books. Or if you've read them all...how does a pre-order of Sacrifice sound?

Anyway, let's take a little look at what I thought of Secret.....

"I have to say, I adore how Brigid Kemmerer has written this book. I mean, I've loved all her books; they're all expertly told, with perfect writing and attention to detail, but Secret seems so much more emotional and confronting at times than some of the previous books. Brigid Kemmerer has created a fantastic supernatural series with this series, but I think her ability to explore deeper issues, real, moving issues at times is what makes this series so much more special."

EARTH. FIRE. AIR. WATER.

Nick Merrick is stretched to breaking point. He's trying to keep his grades sky-high or he won't get in to college. He's trying to keep his brother's business afloat or the Merricks will be out on the street. He's trying to keep the secret of where he's going in the evenings from his twin brother Gabriel - or he fears he'll lose his family. And he's trying to keep his mind off the hot, self-assured dancer who is his 'girlfriend's' partner.

And then Quinn takes to hanging around his sworn enemy, and an Elemental Guide is counting the hours until he can try again to kill the Merrick brothers. Storms are brewing. On all sides.

SECRETS IN THE WIND. DANGER IN THE AIR.

Monday Madness Giveaway- January 2014! *Closed*

Welcome to Monday Madness for January 2014! Kicking off the first Monday Madness giveaway of 2014 I'm featuring an indie favorite of mine, Branded by Abi Ketner & Missy Kalicicki. One follower will receive a paperback copy of this and I honestly think they'll love it as much as I did. Here's some of what I thought.....

"Branded by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki is a sensational debut novel that will thrill from its opening chapter! Masterfully told and brimming with edge of your seat action and raw, unbridled passion, Branded mixes forbidden and electric romance with high stakes danger in this dystopian read that will have you easily begging for more!"

Fifty years ago the Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society. He created the Hole where sinners are branded according to their sins and might survive a few years. At best.
Now LUST wraps around my neck like blue fingers strangling me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit and now the Hole is my new home.

Darkness. Death. Violence. Pain.

Now every day is a fight for survival. But I won’t die. I won’t let them win.

The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

Monday Madness Giveaway- December 2013

Hello lovelies!

Welcome to the December edition of Monday Madness! And it's the final one for the year, though don't worry-I'll be keeping them going next year too. This month the book I was most "mad" about was The Host Stephenie Meyer! After finally reading it, I was shocked to discover how much I loved it. Here's a little bit of what I had to say......

~The Host by Stephenie Meyer is a sensationally written and beguiling book. It's complicated and intricate storyline will captivate and it's tangible characters will beckon as readers become lost in it's emotional depth and romantic beauty. This is one story that is sure to stay with you long after you've turned the final page!~

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, didn't expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

As Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she's never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love.

Featuring one of the most unusual love triangles in literature, THE HOST is a riveting and unforgettable novel about the persistence of love and the essence of what it means to be human.

Monday Madness Giveaway-November 2013! *CLOSED*

It's that time again! Today Monday Madness for November kicks off and this month the book I was most mad about was Through The Zombie Glass by Gena Showalter! Here's some of what I thought about it......

"The plotline in this book is driven, mysterious and uncertain. Showalter blends different elements of the traditional Alice in Wonderland tale together with zombies in such a fun, fresh and captivating story. There's so much going on and with one disaster/excitement blending into the next, I find myself very satisfied with how this story finished yet eager for the next one. This series is evolving nicely and I'm dying to see what Gena Showalter has up her sleeve next!"

As a die-hard Showalter fan I'm super excited to be giving away one of her books!

Inspired by the childhood classic Alice in Wonderland, this harrowing and romantic story features teen zombie slayer Alice Bell who has lost so much—family, friends, her home. After a strange new zombie attack, Alice fears she may be losing her mind as well. A terrible darkness blooms inside her, urging her to do wicked things. The whispers of the dead assault her ears and mirrors seem to come frighteningly to life. She’s never needed her team of zombie slayers more—including her boyfriend, Cole—than she does now. But as Cole strangely withdraws and the zombies gain new strength, Ali knows one false step may doom them all.

Monday Madness Giveaway- October 2013! *Closed*

It's that time again! This months featured book for Monday Madness is All The Truth That's in me up Julie Berry! This book is incredible--a must read--and I'm thrilled to be giving away a copy!

Here's some of what I had to say....

"As a reader, there are rare times in one's life when you come across a book that changes you. Often unexpected, it's story manages to reach down into a deep, inner part inside you and wretch your emotions apart with it's haunting depth and beauty....All The Truth That's In Me is one of those books"

......read more in my review here!

Four years ago, Judith and her best friend disappeared from their small town of Roswell Station. Two years later, only Judith returned, permanently mutilated, reviled and ignored by her friends and family.

Unable to speak, Judith lives like a ghost in her own home, silently pouring out her thoughts to her childhood friend, Lucas. He is the boy who has owned her heart for as long as she can remember - even if he doesn′t know it.

But when Roswell Station is attacked, long-buried secrets come to light, and Judith is forced to choose - to continue living in silence, or recover her voice, even if it means changing her world, and the lives around her, forever.

Told in a voice that is achingly raw and intimate, this remarkably original novel will haunt and stay with you. It will fill you with Judith′s passion and longing, and its mysteries will keep you feverishly turning the pages until the very last one.

Monday Madness Giveaway-September 2013! *Closed*

Welcome to the September 2013 edition of Monday Madness!

This September, the book I was most crazy about was an Australian novel by Ellie Marney, Every Breath which isn't available internationally, so rather than exclude people I'm going to be giving away a copy of an oldie but a goodie--a book I'm still mad about despite having read it years and years ago......Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception by Maggie Stiefvater!

______________________________________________

Sixteen-year-old Deirdre Monaghan is a painfully shy but prodigiously gifted musician. She's about to find out she's also a cloverhand—one who can see faeries. Deirdre finds herself infatuated with a mysterious boy who enters her ordinary suburban life, seemingly out of thin air. Trouble is, the enigmatic and gorgeous Luke turns out to be a gallowglass—a soulless faerie assassin. An equally hunky—and equally dangerous—dark faerie soldier named Aodhan is also stalking Deirdre. Sworn enemies, Luke and Aodhan each have a deadly assignment from the Faerie Queen. Namely, kill Deirdre before her music captures the attention of the Fae and threatens the Queen's sovereignty. Caught in the crossfire with Deirdre is James, her wisecracking but loyal best friend. Deirdre had been wishing her life weren't so dull, but getting trapped in the middle of a centuries-old faerie war isn't exactly what she had in mind . . .
