Book Shelf: #1 Lie (#1 Series #4) by T. Gephart

Working in Hollywood meant Jessica Dawson was used to lying. As an assistant to one of the biggest agents in town, biting her tongue and spewing out sugarcoated untruths were an almost daily occurrence. But fabricating alternate realities never spilled into her personal life, until three months ago when she told the biggest lie of all.

While her dear gran lay on her deathbed, Jessica mentioned she’d met her soul mate. It had been Gran’s last wish to see all her grandkids settled down before she went to see Jesus. And as the only one still single, Jessica didn’t have the heart to disappoint her.

No one expected Gran to make a miraculous recovery.

Now, Gran was expecting to meet Jessica’s perfect man at her cousin’s wedding, which meant she needed to find a perfect man fast. Hiring a professional was the only solution.

Enter Dave Larsson, younger brother to one of Hollywood’s elite.

Sexy, funny and just as smoldering hot as his super-famous sibling—he had talent and charm to spare. But most importantly, he was affordable and available.

All she needed to do was haul Dave home, have him meet Gran and the family, then shortly after the wedding, “break up” with him.

It was either that, or admit to her #1 Lie.

Only thing she didn’t plan on was the bigger lie she would need to tell herself when it was time to let him go.

Review:

#1 Lie is the latest installment in T. Gephart's sizzling #1 series and is another tantalizing love story full of chemistry, romance, humor and fun.

Jessica Dawson was used to lying. As the assistant to one of Hollywood's biggest agents, Jess was no stranger to sugarcoating truths and deception, but she certainly never planned to let the untruths spill over into her personal life. Then her beloved grandmother was on her deathbed and Jess mentioned she had finally met her soulmate hoping to bring her gran a final measure of peace.....only for her gran to make a miraculous recovery. Now Jess has to face attending her cousin's wedding and presenting the soulmate in question; too bad Jess made him up. Desperate and dateless, Jess decides to approach Dave Larsson, one of the actors her firm represents, hoping he'll agree to pretend to be her boyfriend just long enough to attend the wedding, convince her family she was actually seeing someone and then "break up" with her shortly after the wedding. Easy right? Wrong. Convincing Dave is just the beginning, but when their supposedly "fake" relationship begins to blur the lines of fiction and reality will the biggest lie of all be the one Jess tells herself to convince her heart she's not falling in love with Dave?

T. Gephart never fails to win me over with this series and #1 Lie is no exception. Perfectly told, #1 Lie is fun, flirty and so addictive to read. Gephart instills all her trademark humor, sass and passion into the story as Larsson brother Dave finally features with a woman who quickly gets under his skin.

As always I found the heroine to be a strong, capable woman who was effortless to follow. Jess was cheeky but kind and I thought it was wonderful seeing her with her big Louisiana family. Obviously Jess finds herself in a bit of a pickle as she must pretend to be in a relationship with Dave, but the way she handles things and her hair brained schemes made for some entertaining reading and certainly brought a smile to my face.

The story and idea within #1 Lie certainly isn't one I haven't heard before but that didn't make for any less enjoyable reading. I adore the Larsson boys and have loved seeing them each find love with #1 Lie full of sizzling sex scenes, passionate moments and witty and funny dialogue.

Having now had the pleasuring of following three Larsson brothers--and Ryan--with  wonderful results, I cannot wait until the youngest brother Nick is front and centre in the final novel #1 Muse and will be eagerly awaiting to get my hands on it as soon as possible to see how T. Gephart plans to conclude this fabulous series!
